Created by Pam
Lauritzen, founder of ISCC and creator of PetStylist Magazine
and Melissa
Sirianni, authorized OSHA General Industry Trainer, this CD
will provide Salon owners in the pet styling industry vital information
regarding OSHA rules and regulations, plus guidance as to where
to go for additional information.
What Does OSHA
Do? You may be asking yourself about the importance of learning
about OSHA, compliance within your salon and how it can possibly
effect you and your salon. Even if you have only one employee, your
shop must comply with OSHA safety and health standards. As an employer,
you are required to provide a safe and healthy work environment
as well as develop procedures that ensure the safety of your employees.
Your employees must receive safety procedures training and you must
maintain accurate records and report workplace injuries. Failure
to do so can result in heavy fines, closure of business or possibly
jail.
Designed specifically
for Petcare Professionals, this CD features how to:
- Evaluate
your workplace for potential safety and health related hazards
- Report employee
related injuries to OSHA and how to maintain OSHA required records
- Develop a
safety and health procedures manual
- Develop a
safety and health training program
- Comply with
OSHA's Hazardous Communications programs regarding the safe handling
of chemicals
- Compile and
display OSHA required Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

The
mission of OSHA is to save lives, prevent injuries, and protect
the health of America's workers. By doing so, it improves productivity,
minimizes sick days and reduces insurance rates.
